Life Transitions: Announcements for Leaders and Families of Leaders of the African Community
Princes of Africa networking with Austin Africa and other organizations expects to be a part of the ‘village square’ to Africans living in Austin and their family, friends, and admirers. It works to inform and make connections between community leaders assisting Africans who are part of the African Diaspora as well as to individuals (Africaphiles) having deep respect and affection for Africa and its sons and daughters and who would benefit by connecting and communicating directly to African individuals, communities, and organizations.
POA believes in giving due recognition to those African leaders whose lives have been or were an example to others, by virtue of honest work and decent lives.
Many of these individuals have been exemplars for their brothers and sisters with whom they immigrated to the US, thereby helping others make a decent home in a new land. Princes of Africa is confident that this ‘village square” can contribute to facilitating a deeper connection among Africans in the American Diaspora, other Americans, and the communities of their ancestral homes.
Obituaries and Short Biographies on African leaders, written by a known American poet and writer, can be developed for those seeking to record and convey the meaning and lives of African leaders in an established journal and magazine of Africans and African Culture in the US. .
POA announcements follow the sections, categories, and sub-categories of The Times of London: Acknowledgements, Anniversaries, Appointments, Awards, Births, Birthdays, Congratulations, Deaths, Engagements, Graduations, Marriages, Wake Keepings and other events felt important.
Announcements are crafted in Traditional African context and format; aiming to not only transmit successes and life events to their American communities but also in a customary fashion announcements inform the people at home personal news via local African media.
Princes of Africa announces and publishes in Austin Africa via its announcement pages in Traditional African Style or follows the The Times of London format and protocol. All Announcements are designed so as to be appropriate for media elsewhere and POA can arrange for announcements in other publications if desired.
As an example, besides making announcements in Austin Africa, arrangements can also be made for complimentary announcements in the London The Times or The Sunday Times.
The first announcements by POA are about our family. Ifeoma lost her father some time ago, and I am reproducing the speech given about him at the Coal City Club wake keeping about his special life. He was a palm wine tapper, a Nigerian Railways employee, African Yam farmer, a keeper of Igbo tradition, and one of the happiest men I have ever met. The second is of my mother Francis Navarro Vaughn who was a professional woman, a pioneer in Academic Libraries, and, born in Brooklyn, a true Italian woman in every respect as well as an examplar to her Grandson Claude Chukwudi Freeman IV who learned much from her about the fine arts, especially painting and drawing.
